We were free. Free as the land undiscerned we increasing wanted it to stay that way , wanted outsiders to respect are way of life to respect our land. Yet like the ones before us there's always a appealing appearance of a family. They took are land changed it industrialized it. Fumes filled the air and killed the native. Houses and train tracks were built destroying not only are land but are hearts. Why ? Why must you take the on thing we have ? Are only way of life. Is it because were not like you ? Is it because you feel superior ? Why do you want to take what we have if we need each other to survive why not equalize us ? We were pushed out smaller land is now what we bred. We'll make the best of it. In our peaceful protest. Yet are voice can't be heard. We'll make sure are point is. The only question is how ? ----- Tavarius, 5th Grade, Fort Dodge Middle School As I was walking I saw a really ugly ram. I walked past it and got scared and ran in the ocean with the black and white duck. After I came from seeing the black and white ducks I went to a park with tall and a lot of grass. And the saw a heard of buffalo walking around n I sneaked past them. ----- Brandon, 8th Grade, FDMS The ram was running through the water chasing the birds so the people put him on the train and put him the bridge and he found his way to the buffalo fields. ----- Lauren, 7th Grade, Manson Northwest Webster One day when my family went walking along a bird infested beach I saw a herd of bison driving a train over a cobblestone bridge. A ram stood majestically in the forest, giving the bison a disapproving look. The weak bridge gave out into the dried up reveen. We stood in aw at Mr. Ram, his majesticness engulfing the area as the bison fled from the scene, leaving the police to arrest the ram for disturbing the peace. ----- Chandler, 4th Grade, South Hamilton My Summer Vacation at Yellowstone Park So my summer vacation started out like a long drive and we went past this ocean with birds in the water. Then we went past this Train Museum and we got our pictures taken in front of the train. Then we were finally there and we saw some rams laying down and then came the buffalo they were running, and jumping all over the place. Then came my favorite part, the bridge. It had all sorts of animals walking on it for a little bit, but when we took the picture they were all gone they were so fast. That was my summer vacation. ----- Paige, 4th Grade, South Hamilton One day I was on a trip to South Dakota. And on the way there we saw a herd of buffalo. And there was a lot!! Then after we we saw the buffalo. We went to a zoo and we saw a baby giraffe. And it started liking us.We got a picture by a train. On the way there we went over a cool bridge made out of rocks. Then we saw a ram of some sort. Then we went to Florida, and saw all of these birds on the beach. Finally, we went home. ----- Izzy, 4th Grade, South Hamilton One day there was a ram he was very wise. He was talking to a herd of buffalo. "You need to save your food for winter otherwise by the time winter comes around you will have no food." The leader of the heard responded,"We will be fine do not tell us what to do." "Alright do not come crying to me when are out of food in the winter."By the time winter rolled around the ram went to the beach for a warmer climate to live in temporarily. The buffalo's eventually did run out of food. And they needed help so they crossed the stone bridge to the beach the found the ram and asked for help. The ram said," I am sorry there is no food that buffaloes can eat anywhere near you should have listened to my advice." The buffalo were sorry. The ram could not provide any food the lived off nothing and eventually they died the ram felt guilty. In my opinion he should not. ----- Breanna, 4th Grade, South Hamilton On the last day of school we went to the zoo and got our pictures taken beside an old train. When we were at the zoo we went to go look at some animals. We looked at 2 animals, we looked at the herd of buffalo and a ram hiding in the bushes. Later in the summer we went to our cousins and on our way there we saw a old rocky railroad and there was a big train going across. When we got to our cousins we went to a beach and there was a lot of birds on the beach. And that was my awesome summer :) THE END ----- Calli, 4th Grade, South Hamilton Once there was a lonely ram. It lived by a beach. The beach had a lot of ducks and geese . Someone was at the beach saw him and put him in a zoo. He found his herd by a bridge and tried to meet them. But they didn't like him. But there was one girl that liked him. She was the Herds Leaders daughter. She tried to convince her dad to let him in but he said," I will give him one chance to get the zookeeper to give us more food." And the lonely ram did that by taking to the buffalo. The buffalo wouldn't talk to him. So he wrote on a poster board GIVE THE RAMS MORE FOOD! And they did. The rams let him into the group and named him Kumba. the end ----- Mercedes, 12th Grade, Emmetsburg HS Freedom Smiling. Laughter. Babies and small children crying and complaining. Balloons. Food. Humans. Every human being or items in comparison to humans surrounding me in every direction. Taking pictures of me and my similar friends, while their children feed us these little tablets of food that don’t taste as good as humans think they do for us – but in reality, it tastes like garbage. But I guess that is what humans think we, as creatures, eat all the time anyways. There is this huge cage surrounding every creature in this area, including myself. We are in our own person jail that we will never get out of. We’re trapped in here for our whole entire life. Hi. My name is Billy, and I am a long-horned sheep. I was born and raised in captivity. I live in this huge cage surrounding others like me, while people just watch and laugh at us. I wish I could understand why they laugh and smile at me. I don’t know what’s so funny, but I wish I did so I could laugh along with them and try to fit in. I try talking to the little people who always pet me, but I guess they can’t understand a word I say. My words are only in my thoughts to them. I am only an animal in a cage to them. I have never known my parents, for when I was little, humans took me away from them and I never saw them again - or maybe I have. I just don’t remember what they look like, and I’m sure they don’t remember how I look like either. I have always dreamt about going out into the wild, seeing other creatures like me or not like me. I wonder if the creatures out in the wild are more polite than the ones here. At this place, all creatures are either cranky or just not in a great mood. But who can blame them I guess, I mean... We’re stuck in a cage and can’t run wherever we pleased to go - otherwise we cause trouble to people. I do have one good friend though, and his name is Bison. He is a buffalo and is three times my size, but he is real kind to me. He is a little bit older than I am – I think so anyways. I don’t know how long I’ve been here on this world, but he seems to be real mature. He has the same dream as I do about the wild. It was getting dark, and humans started to leave. The other sheep went their own way and left me to myself, thinking ‘Is this really how I’m going to live the rest of my life?’ Then coincidence came after my thought, as I remember the person, who always comes in my cage to clean up our ‘little mess’, forgot to put the hook into the hole all the way – he would get in so much trouble if somebody realized that. I watched a while until I couldn’t see him no more. ‘Here is my chance’, I thought to myself. As I came up to the partially latched hook, I carefully push upwards until the latch comes off completely. The door opened. ‘Oh… my…’ is all that I can think of. I can get out. I can run wherever I pleased. I can leave this jail and never come back. As excitement came through me, I hear someone call my name. It was Bison. “How did you get out!?” he asked. “The human didn’t latch it all the way!” I said with excitement. He looked at me in a concerning way, but then it turned into excitement as well. “Do you think you can get me out of here too? We can run away together and be free, just like we dreamed of doing for a long time!” As he said that I looked for the latched door. I had to run to the other side of the cage, but I found it. It was fully latched. I carefully put the top of my horn onto the little poked end, and pushed up. It didn’t move. I tried again, but this time harder. The latch only budged, but didn’t come off completely. Frustrated, I pushed upward as hard as I could and it finally came off. The door swung fully open. Bison runs over with joy in his brown, hairy face. “Thank you so much, Billy!” he said. As we were excited, we all of a sudden heard another voice. “Hey! Over there!” It was a human pointing at us. His face showed anger. As he ran toward us, so did a few other humans. At that moment Bison and I ran for our lives, trying to find a way out. We ran all over the park, as all the other creatures yelled and screamed with excitement. We finally found a door out and as we ran out, we came into a complete different world. Everything was vibrant; the grass was so green and at the coincidently exact moment, the sun was rising. The wild. We made it. As much as we wanted to jump for joy, we started running more to escape from the humans with guns in their hands that had some sort of liquid pellet in them. I don’t know what it is, but I’m pretty sure it’s not food. Bison and I ran and ran and ran. And all of a sudden… No. This isn’t right. There’s a fence in front of our face. I’m so confused. We tried running to a different direction. There’s another fence. Then the other side there was a fence as well. Jail. We’re back in jail. How could this be? As we ran to the entry we came in, they locked the doors. We’re jailed up again! With frustration running through my veins, I cracked. I ran all over the cage trying to find a way out, but couldn’t find anything. I went back to Bison and just sat there with him, still frustrated and angry. “What do we do now?” he asked. “I have no idea. I’m sorry I got you into this situation.” “It’s ok! We had our own adventure that no other creature here could have experienced, and that was escaping. Sure, we ran into another cage, but at least we did it! We are officially ‘wild’ animals,” he laughed out. I laughed with him, not only because it was funny he said that, but because it was true. “At least we’re trapped together. I have my best friend with me,” Bison said. “So do I,” I smiled. The End. ----- Joe, 12th Grade, Emmetsburg Mike and his family were about forty minutes out from Yellow Stone National Park. He was excited because it was his family’s first vacation in five years. As they neared closer they caught small glimpses of nature. Mikes father pointed out the wild buffalo that were visible along the horizon. When they arrived they realized they were not the only ones who decided to vacation there. Tourists were everywhere and it almost seemed too crowded to see the beauty of nature. Mikes family decided to hike some trails to get away from all the commotion. As they were walking the through the tall winding hills a wild goat crossed the trail. It frightened them and decided to stop and stare. Mike told his family in a hushed voice not to move because goats are very territorial and can get agitated if you mess with them. The goat’s fawns walked out of the trees after it and the mother started grunting. It started walking toward them. Just in the nick of time before the family started to make a run for it a large steam locomotive blew its horn that could be heard through the forest. The goat’s family got spooked and ran off. Mike had never had a close encounter with a wild animal like this in his life. It made him appreciated more that to animals this is their home and it needs to be preserved and protected for future generations to appreciate. ----- Caid, 7th Grade, Pinecrest Center Tom was an average guy, and he went on a train every year. Tom who went on a long car ride to go on a long train. When the train stopped Tom got off and walked around and had no idea where he was, he had gotten off at the wrong stop. He went to a forest and saw a turtle and a butterfly. He found a town and saw hotel so he went and stayed there. The next day he went to the closest train stop and went home. The next year he did the same and then the next. Tom started to wonder why he got off on the wrong stop every year. He thought he was given a curse by a witch. He started to get mad, than angry and he wanted to do something about it. But than he gave up and moved away, but when he woke up he was in his old house. Than he lived on with the curse for the rest of his life. ----- Jaichelle, 7th Grade, FDMS I went on hunt for some deer and then I found this lake with ducks so I shot one and they flew away and then I went on vacation I went over a bridge and found me some buffalo to kill. ----- Sabrina, 7th Grade, Fort Dodge Middle School The ram ran across the beach and scared the sea eagles and the train went down the rail road. Over the bridge and by the buffalo it went. ----- Tatyana, 7th Grade, FDMS Once there was a ram who went to the beach and saw some people walking to the big bridge and when the buffalo saw them, they ran after them and the ram saved them from being attacked. The end :-) ----- Isaiah, 6th Grade, Fort Dodge Middle School Once upon a time their was a goat that went to the beach to chase seagull then he went to take a picture with a family in front of a train. After that he crossed a bridge while he was crossing it he saw a herd of buffalos and he went and talked with them so then they all went to Las Vegas to party all night but while walking home he got robbed by a wolf but then a cop came and arrested the wolf. When he got home he ate snack then he went to bed. The End |

I will never forget the day my life turned from one of luxury, to one of slavery. It all happened many summers ago. I was at my grandparent's lake house, enjoying a quiet afternoon of swimming and fishing, when out of now where, a bright light blinded me. I stood up and stumbled about, trying to get inside the house, when a slimy hand grabbed my ankle and began tugging on my leg, causing me to fall back into the frigid murky waters below.
I awake to find myself in an old abandon farm house. I sit up and look around. I seemed to be in a bedroom of some sorts. I swing my legs over the edge of the bed and wince. My back with sore from something, maybe from hitting something on the way down. I rub my forehead, standing slowly and limping over to the door. I take a deep breath and open it, widening my eyes at what lied before me. I tall spiral stair case, winding down into darkness.
I gulp and begin the long trek down, staying to the inside wall, in case I stumbled, then I wouldn't fall to my certain death. At the end was a dark room. I looked around, feeling as if someone were here with me. As soon as I turned around, I felt a sharp pain in my neck. Lights flashed on and standing across from me was a horrid creature. It had messy black hair and pale grey skin, fangs like a tiger and claws like a lion. It holds a tube which is connected to my neck. It injected itself with the other side. I yell in pain as my blood began to flow into the creature as it grabbed another tube, sticking it into both out necks. It groaned as its blood I think began to flow into me, only, it was a bright neon rainbow.
After the blood transaction, I opened my eyes and saw the creature, which looked like a normal human. I raised a brow and looked at myself. I was one of the grey skinned monsters!!!

The baby could not find a sandwich. So the dog said," We will go to San Antonio, Texas they have the best sandwiches anyways." With a poof they were gone. "There is the Alamo let's take a picture." the dog said. The baby and the dog posed in front of the building. Out of nowhere a peacemaker appears. This is me, my name is Kaelen. I am very lucky! I get to test the prototype google glass!
But before we begin, I am hungry. I guess that I’ll have a sandwich. On my way home I
found a dog! Poor thing! It looks like you haven’t had anything to eat in forever!
I know, I’ll share my sandwich! And then I’ll take you home. Oh look, I guess
somebody is taking a picture. I think that we should go around. Whoa!
How many important people do I have to run into today?!? I think that these
people are having an important meeting. We’ll wait for them. Then I’ll take you home.

He was driving home and saw two girls standing by an old building getting their picture taken. He went home and his baby and his wife had made him a sandwich. It was his favorite kind of sandwich. One morning I went to a my hotel and I was a clerk there. I was sleeping on the job so my boss fired me. He banged my face with a baseball bat. I wiped out and I had a very weird dream.
I woke up in my dream and found a butterfly on my nose. I brushed it off and it went to a purple flower. Then a train drove by and said,” Get on you’ll miss your flight!” So I got on and went on my flight. I had to go to a meeting for my vet job. And I had to go to an aquarium. And help a turtle. It was born with one blind eye. And I taught him how to live with it. When he was good I had to go to a field and help a horse. It ran into a windmill. And it broke its leg. I helped it walk and stuff. Then I woke up on the floor in the hotel and went home. What a weird dream!

One day I was just riding a train to Paris. I was riding in one of the most luxurious trains in the world. Also the most remarkable it has floating tracks and will never fall into the water or on the ground these tracks make it possible to go across an ocean without flying. I had just gotten to Paris when I noticed a very large turtle coming at me. It said,"How do you do? My name is Theresa Turtle and I will be your tour guide." I said, "But you are just a turtle." "I know," said the turtle." But first I am going to take you to the Paris countryside." And so he did. I said," This is amazing!!!" " It must be otherwise I would not be showing you." " And the butterflies they are so very beautiful." "I think I am going to settle down right here." " But I will be very lonely. Do you think you can be my pet?" The turtle responded," Yes I would LOVE to!!!" And so they lived happily ever after.

At my house I have a bush of flowers and we saw a blue and black butterfly. When we were riding our bikes we went to small creek nearby and while we were there we saw a turtle on a thick piece of wood. In the summer we went on a train and it was a very nice nice train it was so nice I wish I could live in it. on our way to the hotel it became night. It was a pretty sight and when we saw the light we also saw the windmills in the shadow of the sun. After our long and very fun trip we went back. THE END

One day it was snowing the next day it was starting to dry up.
I made graffiti on the side of a wall so that people could see it.
After I got done with my graffiti, I went for walk which took me past the President’s house.
Then I went to the fair to see the sheep. I saw a little girl taking a picture with them.
My mom told me that if I was good at the fair she would take me to a professional football game to hear the National Anthem being sung.
